Form Follows Feeling
Acerbis x Astep hosted by Stephanie Thatenhorst
In the Maxburg by Sepp Ruf, a space emerged for six weeks that brought together architecture and scenography. Acerbis and Astep presented themselves there for the first time in Munich, sharing an environment designed by Stephanie Thatenhorst.
Upon entering, visitors encountered an atmosphere shaped by color and light. Shades of orange, yellow, and blue defined the mood; they overlapped, broke across materials, and reflected in glass and metal. The warm lighting made the space feel alive, creating a sense of movement and depth.
At the center of the installation stood the idea of the “in-between”, a place where brands, forms, and materials met. On display were Stephanie Thatenhorst’s personal favorite pieces from Acerbis and Astep, brought together in a cohesive spatial concept.
The Lokum glass tables were arranged throughout the space, reflecting the light in shifting nuances. Between them, the Array sofa and the modular Free System by MDF Italia invited visitors to linger. Both pieces served as calm anchor points within the colorful environment.

A special piece is the Due Più by Acerbis, a re-edition of Nanda Vigo’s 1971 design.
Its clear graphic form and reflective surface are softened by the fur upholstery and presented here as dining chairs surrounding the Creso table.

The Elitra and Starret shelves by Acerbis gave the space form and structure.
The Trench sofa conveyed an elegant sense of generosity, its fluid lines inviting one to sit. Beside it, the Menhir side table, with its rounded shape, introduced a soft balance to the overall composition.
The lighting pieces by Astep formed the connecting element within Stephanie Thatenhorst’s design. The Lille Wall Lamp and Model 262 created a rhythmic sequence along the walls, producing a delicate interplay of light and shadow. Within the space, the Upglas table lamp and the Model 1095 floor lamp added accents that gently sculpted the furniture ensemble. In this way, a luminous landscape emerged, bathing the room in warm tones and emphasizing the materiality of each piece.
Furniture, color, and light came together in a temporary installation positioned between showroom and art space, developing its own narrative about form and atmosphere.
Through her curated scenography, Stephanie Thatenhorst offered a new perspective on the identity of both brands.
