Welcome to an extraordinary interior project that highlights Stephanie Thatenhorst’s unmistakable style. On 88 square meters in the Van B penthouse in Munich, exciting and unprecedented new creations have come to life. Her internationally influenced, eclectic style masterfully combines warm and cool materials as well as diverse textures and finishes. This project was created for Bauwerk, Van B, and AD.

As you enter the apartment, you are immediately embraced by a cozy atmosphere. The dining area showcases the skillful fusion of various elements. A round table (Desalto) and inviting wooden chairs (Gubi), a contemporary reinterpretation of a design classic, create a welcoming centerpiece. Particularly eye-catching is the custom-made console, seamlessly clad with striking red wall tiles (Mutina via Die Fliese), which lends the space a distinctive character.

In the living area, the seamless transition from the striking red wall tiles to the innovative Panoplie wall and floor system by CC-Tapis makes a strong impression. This rug concept has been creatively integrated into the design. The lounger (Tacchini) is an additional element that fits perfectly into the overall composition. The shift from the cool tiles to the soft rug on both wall and floor creates a unique depth and inviting coziness.

The open built-in kitchen on the opposite side impresses with its perfect combination of functionality and elegance. Here, polished stainless steel and warm wood paneling (Kienle) merge in harmonious unity. This appealing blend of modern sophistication and inviting warmth creates a distinctive atmosphere. The open shelving replaces traditional upper cabinets, offering not only storage space but also a sense of openness and lightness.
In the sleeping area, a fabric-upholstered double bed (Gallotti & Radice with Pierre Frey fabric and CocoMat mattress) rests on a round high-pile rug (Kvadrat). Soft shades of cream and light blue dominate the textiles, harmonizing beautifully with the cool petrol side tables (Miniforms) and the stainless-steel wall shelf (Frama). Additionally, the wall lights (Nemo) with blue glass shades, placed on either side of the bed, add striking accents to the room.

Behind the glass block wall lies the dressing area, where the striking contrast between warm and cool materials takes center stage. A carpet system by CC-Tapis extends seamlessly from the walls to the floor, while open stainless-steel wall shelves (Frama) provide practical storage space. A side table complements the dressing area, and a cream-colored pouf (both by Gallotti & Radice) serves as both a surface and a seat. A sophisticated floor mirror (Glas Italia) enhances the space with additional light.

In this small bathroom, the delicate peach-pink clay paint (Nendo) creates a refreshing and bright atmosphere. Playful lilac accents, whether in the mirror (OUT) or the vanity unit, add a sense of freshness and vibrancy.
A particular highlight is the rug (CC-Tapis), which lends the bathroom a playful and inviting touch. Despite the limited space, the room exudes a fresh atmosphere that creates a unique and welcoming flair.

On this enchanting rooftop terrace, accessible via a private staircase also laid with the same carpet as the dressing room, you will find a wonderful retreat high above the rooftops of Schwabing. Covering around 43 square meters, it offers a picturesque view.
At the rear of the terrace, a cozy lounge corner by Acapulco Design awaits, perfect for relaxed moments. An outdoor seating set (Gubi) for two provides the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy. Above the dining area, a fringed parasol (Lobster’s Day) offers shade and adds to the holiday atmosphere. Once fully planted, this rooftop terrace will undoubtedly become your own little green oasis in the heart of the city.
